Weekly Happenings

We have been in Washington almost three full weeks.  The area is so big and is hard to navigate at times but we are getting around.  Atsuko is enjoying hee work at the garden in Federal Way and I have started tutoring at an ESL school in northern Seattle.

The students I am tutoring are actually elementary school teachers from South Korea.  The three I am meeting with are very nice, and I really enjoy speaking with them.  They have all worked very hard to be able to come to Seattle and study, and it shows.  They all want to speak English the best they possibly can, something I didn't always see at Spring International Language Center.  It makes the conversations enjoyable and the time I spend talking with them go by quickly.  I feel bad when I have to cut them off after their 50 minutes they each get, but I only have 3 hours total and if I'm not out and on the road by 4 it takes forever to get home.

Atsuko and I purchased a netbook this week as well.  I wanted one so I could be able to go and write outside of the apartment.  It is pretty depressing sitting here in the apartment most of the day when you have nothing to do.  This way I can get out and people watch while I'm writing, and we have a small computer to use where ever it is needed.

Speaking of writing, I have begun writing a short story.  I have been taking a lot of the ideas I have had for stories and putting them together.  So far I have written around 40 pages.  I hope to have a decent short story once I finish and maybe even try to get it published.

Just got to cross my fingers.
