Tired And Sick
My mother left to go back to Northwest Arkansas this morning. Unfortunately, I did not go to the airport to see her off. Stupid head cold. I feel like I have a watermelon up my sinuses. I've spent half the day sleeping. The other half was spent driving to get my textbooks. There went $200, one of them was hardcover only. I am sad to see my mother leave, but I am even more sad that I will spend the last few days of my vacation sick. I need orange juice and sleep.

I Hate Myself, Kind Of Anyways...
The other week I recieved some Magic: The Gathering cards to give to my Japanese students. The cards were all in Japanese. The students thought it was neat, but didn't want much of what I had. Not wanting to waste a perfectly good gift, I bought a starter deck in English that was exactly the same as one I had been given and opened both knowing that I could match the art on the cards to learn the rules for the Japanese cards. I have said for years that I would not play another collectible card game, but here I am playing Magic. I hate myself, kind of anyways because it is fun to sit with people at the game shop and play. I realized I was missing out on half of the atmosphere of the shop and now going to DTwenty Games feels like a whole new experience. I really want the card to the left. I love the art on it! I'm hoping to see if I can make a trade with some of what I have gotten for one. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Weekend Finals
I have completed one final over the last two days. I wrote almost 2,900 words which equals about twelve pages double spaced. This was done over roughly nine or ten hours of work. Unfortunately, I get the next one tomorrow. It is only two questions with each answer no longer than two pages. It should be a piece of cake. But a cake I have to finish and turn in by Tuesday and I'll be working, in class, or more importantly sleeping a good portion of that time. The final I finished today is not due until Wednesday at 11:59PM. I plan to look it over before sending it in.

And Finals Begin
I received my first final of the quarter last night. It was a set of four long essays, and ten short. The class will be informed on Thursday which we absolutely have to answer, and then it is due by e-mail to our instructor Thursday the 17th. Tonight, I get my Morphology final too. It is going to be a busy week!

It's Nice Knowing Someone That Works For A Game Company
Daryl Nichols is probably one of the nicest people I've met up in Seattle. Even more amazing, he used to live in NW Arkansas. Now, he works for Wizards of the Coast in Renton. He had been meaning to bring these to me for a while, the generous man he is. 4 Japanese and 1 Chinese starter deck of Magic: The Gathering. Pretty awesome! I traded the Chinese set for some D&D stuff, and I was going to see if my Japanese students would be interested in the others. They aren't, but I found someone to give them to. A big thanks to Daryl for giving these to me. I may not be all that interested in Magic (or collectible card games in general) but it is awesome to see this none-the-less.
UPDATE: I thought I would update and say that my Japanese students ended up taking some of these sets, and some other stuff Daryl had given me to pass on to them. It's awesome being able to relate to my students through games. I don't always have a common ground with students, even those from Japan, but this made everything better.

Car, Again
The check engine light in the Geo came on yesterday. We took it back to the auto shop we had do the work last time and they checked over everything. Unfortunately, it was the O2 sensor that had to be replaced. Given how old the car is, apparently it was due to happen. Another $250 into the Geo. As long as it is safe to drive, that is what matters!

Plant Nerd!!
I use Felco pruners at work. my boss bought me one soon after I started working at the garden. Felco pruner is very high quality garden tool and it last decades if you take good care. I found this video on youtube showing how to clean the pruners. You will see how plant nerd I am, but this kind of stuff fascinates me!! Anyhow, if you own Felco pruners, this is a good video to watch.
